A Day in the Life of Baby Monkey Koko

A baby monkey named Koko gets a gentle belly rub, a warm bath, a snack from someone’s fingers, and a bottle feeding, all caught on camera over the course of one video. If you have never seen a young monkey up close, this is about as close as it gets.

Who is Koko?

Koko is a young monkey being cared for by hand, small enough to fit in a person’s palm. In the opening shot, Koko lies back on a pink blanket while a caregiver rubs a round little belly, feet curling and fingers held close to the chin. The wide dark eyes and pink-tinged face give away just how young Koko still is.

What happens in the video

Early on, Koko clings tightly to someone’s arm during what looks like bath time, with a marble-tiled wall and a shower hose visible in the background. Wet fur is pushed back from a small round head, and Koko holds on the way a house cat might grip a sleeve.

Later, Koko is dressed in a little red and cream outfit, sitting on the same pink blanket while a hand offers a small treat. Koko’s mouth is open, clearly interested in whatever is being held out.

Toward the end, Koko lies back against the blanket, decorated with a small pink flower headpiece, and drinks from a baby bottle held steady by a caregiver’s hand. It is a calm, quiet close to the video, with Koko’s tiny fingers resting against the bottle as it feeds.

Why this video is worth watching

There is no big drama here, just the small, everyday moments of caring for a young animal: a bath, a snack, a bottle, and a lot of holding. It is the kind of footage that shows patience more than anything else.
