A Closer Look at a Sick Newborn Baby Monkey Learning to Stand

A newborn monkey, clearly not feeling well, struggles to hold itself upright on a soft towel in this footage. Its dark, fuzzy hair stands up over a pale pink face, and its wide dark eyes track the camera as its thin legs wobble beneath it.

The little animal is small enough to fit in two cupped hands, about the size of a house cat’s kitten, with bright pink hands and feet that grip the fabric for balance. It is being kept indoors on a teal-colored towel spread over a pastel-painted surface decorated with clouds and a star, the kind of setup used to keep a fragile infant warm and steady.

What does the footage show?

Across the clips, the baby monkey is seen pushing up onto all fours, reaching one arm forward, and shifting its weight as it tries to stay upright. Its movements are slow and a little shaky, the kind of effort you would expect from a newborn that is not at full strength.

At one point it stretches an arm out along the towel, almost like it is trying to steady itself or reach for something just out of frame. The towel bunches and folds under its hands and feet as it presses down, and its tail curls loosely off to one side.

Why does it look unsteady?

The title makes clear this is an unhealthy newborn, and the footage backs that up — the wobbling stance, the effort in every small movement, and the close, careful framing all point to a baby that needed extra attention. Nothing here is dramatic; it is simply a quiet, close-up record of a very young animal working hard just to stay on its feet.
